Currently Use Metal Halide Lights For Your Retail Store? Why You Should Change To LED

Posted on

It is important that you use the right lights for your retail store, as they allow customers to see your products while they are shopping. If you currently use metal halide lights, you should consider changing them over to LED lights. Below are some reasons why so you can decide if this would be a good choice for you.

More Color Temperatures Available

Metal halide lights emit a cool white light and are available in low color temperatures. LED lights, on the other hand, are available in a wide range of color temperatures that range from bright white to cool blue.

In your business, you need the light to be bright enough and with metal halides you will not be able to achieve this. For example, the lights that come from halide lights may be too bright. LED lights can put out a light that is bright enough but will not be too hard on the eyes.

Cooler lights will make your retail store appear larger and is flattering to the clothing and other products that you sell. Cooler lights also work well if you have displays in your windows.

When you start shopping for lights you will be able to see what they look like to help you determine what would work best in your store.

Less Time When Turning Lights On and Off

When you turn metal halide lights off they take time to cool down and completely turn off. The same thing goes for when you turn the lights on when you arrive at your retail store. They will take time to completely reach their full brightness.

LED lights, on the other hand, turn off immediately and when turned on are immediately at the correct brightness level. This can save you time, especially if you are running late and have to open your retail store quickly.

Amount of Heat Produced

Metal halide lights emit a high amount of heat. If you have a lot of metal halide lights in your store it could even raise the temperature in your store's interior. LED lights, on the other hand, emit little heat. The amount is so small that you would not notice the heat at all.

Producing a lot of heat also makes metal halide lights less energy efficient, which means your electrical bill will be higher when compared to using LED lights.

If you decide that you want LED lights in your retail store, hire an electrician instead of doing this yourself. An electrician will ensure when they change out the metal halide lights to LED that it is done safely and the lights will work perfectly for you.
